WHO WE ARE

We are pretty much regular people, with regular homes, families and interests, living in ordinary communities around the country. We usually wear golf shirts and casual clothes and put our pants on one leg at a time, just like you do. We don’t know much about high fashion or fancy living, but we do know a lot about insurance.

Al Dadswell, the President and CEO of the A-WIN Insurance Network, grew up in the insurance industry, doing mundane tasks for his father, who was also an insurance broker. In the past thirty years or so (without actually giving away his age), he has made insurance his career, working as a claims manager, sales manager, brokerage owner, underwriter, and appraiser. He is one of the rare individuals that has obtained three professional designations, and is qualified to instruct numerous business courses for institutions, such as Mount Royal College, the Insurance Institute of Canada, the Insurance Council and various universities.

Al has done many other things in his life as well. He is the current president for the Calgary East EDA. He is on the board of directors for the Insurance Broker’s Association, as well as the Facility Association of Alberta, and the Insurance Community Action Network. He has also served on various volunteer boards as a consultant and member in the past and will continue to support additional not-for-profit organizations in the future by investing his time and energy.

WHERE DID WE COME FROM?

In 2001, Al purchased a small brokerage, that included two staff, a couple of desks and a typewriter. A short time later, with some growth and acquisitions, we became All Alta Insurance.

As of June 1, 2007, All Alta Insurance and Transwest Insurance joined together to form a new insurance team to serve their clients that much better. In the fall of 2007, changed our name to “the All West Insurance Network” to allow us to expand across Western Canada, but we soon realized that this was a mouthful for most people, especially our receptionists, so we abbreviated our name to the A-WIN Insurance Network. So within six relatively short, but busy years, he and his Vice President of Operations, Debi Walker and their dedicated team have built the organization to over twenty five branches with approximately one hundred and thirty-five staff, serving clients throughout the country on virtually all types of insurance products through thirty or more insurers.

One of the main differences between A-WIN and what our competition is that anyone can always talk to the President or Vice President about any concerns you may have! Just pick up the phone or send an email, because they are always available to help clients and direct traffic as may be needed.

With us, all of our clients and employees are that important – without exception.

WHERE WE ARE GOING?

We try to arrange the location of our offices in easy to reach areas that are easily accessible to all who need the services of a truly independent insurance broker. We know that you find our branches to be warm and inviting, with the coffee brewing and on occasion, a box of donuts or crullers open and waiting for those that come to visit, hopefully much like coming to visit an old friend!

Within the next year, our plan is to expand to over 40 branches or more throughout the country, making us one of the largest insurance distributors anywhere. In addition, we have focused our energies on improving I.T. so that clients can reach someone easily and quickly, whenever or however they need us. In fact, many of our clients can now purchase and service their own insurance policies on-line!

But for those that prefer to not come in and talk with a real, live person - face to face, for quotes or sales on any type of insurance or assistance they may need and information, our enthusiastic team is there at anytime and we even provide 24 / 7 emergency claims services.

Wherever we are, we always try to do the best job possible for our customers and make it easy for them to do business with us. When it comes right down to it, that’s probably all that really matters.

WHY WE ARE HERE?

No business can successfully operate in a vacuum, oblivious of their true purpose and the reason for their success – their clients. Service may be a lost art in today’s some areas of today’s economy, but with us, it is our primary concern. Simply put, we are here for you, because we know that without you, we would not be here.

Ok, we humbly admit it. We can and do provide insurance to all those so-called rocket surgeons and brain scientists out there!!! We can also handle all other types of insurance, such as professional (Errors and Omissions) and Association (Directors and Officers) liability, sports injury, or long-haul trucking and fleets. We can provide coverage for off-shore drilling rigs, spacecraft of any nature, and all the perils involved with kidnap, ransom or other foreign and or overseas operations. Sometimes, our clients need the assistance of our Risk Management team, that are there to help them reduce their insurance costs by eliminating, transferring, or managing some of their risk directly. Our team will inspect, discuss and recommend alternatives that most clients may not be able to arrive at on their own.

While we can be all things to all businesses, that is not all that we do. We also focus on the insurance products that are of the most importance to you and your family - your home, auto, tenants, RV, condo, small commercial and farm insurance.

In our spare time, we design specialized commercial or personal group programs. We can arrange a home and auto insurance and health benefits options for employee based groups. We have also designed unique programs for other groups, such as financial institutions and political parties, as well as trades or business groups and associations.

Whether you are seeking coverage for your home or auto, if you are a contractor or some form of sub trade, or anything else in between, we will make sure you are looked after properly, with the best coverage and premiums available to us.

We are also independent insurance brokers and members of the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada. As independent brokers, we don’t work specifically for any insurer, which is why we represent so many insurrance companies. We are proud to tell you that our brokerage is paid a commission for servicing our client’s insurance needs. We believe that this is the greatest incentive to do the best job possible, because if we don’t keep our clients happy, they may decide to move elsewhere. It is not hard to figure out – if your aren’t happy, we aren’t happy!
