My Driving Discount aims to reward good driving behaviours through giving a personalized discount to drivers based on their driving performance. Drivers can earn up to a 25% discount on their premiums if they practice safe driving habits.
So how does it work?
Because Intact wants to reward drivers rather than punish them this data won’t be used to increase your premiums or cancel your policy. It also won’t be used to process or deny claims. It will only be used if you are eligible for a discount. This program is also entirely voluntary and you can opt out at any time.
What will the app or device be monitoring?
Intact’s app or device will be monitoring what time you drive hard braking and rapid acceleration. What counts as “hard��? braking and “rapid��? acceleration? Anything 12km/h per 1 second or more. It does not track your speed or location.
Who qualifies for My Driving Discount?
As long as you qualify for a car commercial auto or farm vehicle policy you’re eligible! You also need third party liability coverage on that policy and as long as you have cell phone data coverage where you drive the app will work.
After that as long as you consent give a valid email address install the app and grant it access to location services you’re good to go! The app will work on iOS and Android phones. If you’re installing the device your commercial or farm vehicle can’t be older than 20 years and it must be compatible with the device.
